Il Neorealismo a Roma
Roma è la capitale dell'Italia ma anche la capitale della buona cucina, soprattutto quella tradizionale, ed era così anche nel passato. Le osterie erano i principali luoghi frequentati anche da persone talentuose come : pittori, sceneggiatori, attori, registi; e qui tra un boccone e l'altro si discuteva del più e del meno.
Una delle osterie più celebri era l ' "Osteria Dei Fratelli Menghi", vicino Piazza Del Popolo. I frequentatori principali erano per esempio : Anna Magnani, Federico Fellini, Ivo Perilli, Roberto Rossellini ma anche scrittori come Italo Calvino a cui dedicò l'opera "Il Barone Rampante" ad una delle storie ascoltate presso l'Osteria Dei Fratelli Menghi. Infatti non era solo un luogo per mangiare o bere ma un luogo anche di cultura, dove poter ascoltare discorsi di ogni genere dalle menti e dagli artisti più importanti degli anni '50. Ugo Pirri dedicò l' opera l' "Osteria Dei Pittori " all'Osteria Dei Fratelli Menghi, descrivendo quanto i proprietari erano cortesi con i giovani talenti, così da far credito senza garanzie. Infatti gli artisti si sentivano a casa in un luogo sicuro dove poter discutere con gli altri e poter riflettere su varie questioni. I piatti principalmente richiesti erano quelli della cucina romana per eccellenza come: pollo alla romana, carbonara, amatriciana e dell' ottimo vino.

The main places where you could taste Rome's traditional food were the "Osterie" that were also famous because of the celebrities that used to go there, who were for example: painters, scriptwriters, actors and directors, who used to discuss of everything and not just eat!. One of the most famous Osteria was "Osteria Dei Fratelli Menghi", near Piazza Del Popolo. The main clients were for example: Anna Magnani, Federico Fellini, Ivo Perilli, Roberto Rossellini but also writers as for example: Italo Calvino who wrote "Il Barone Rampate", which is a story dedicated to one of the stories that he listened when he was at the Osteria. The "Osteria Dei Fratelli Menghi", wasn't only a place to eat or drink but a place to discuss and learn new things from the other talented artists of the 1950s. Ugo Pirri dedicated the story "Osteria Dei Pittori" to the "Osteria Dei Fratelli Menghi", describing how the owners were kind to the artists, giving them credit without guarantees, in fact everyone felt at ease. Artists could discuss of everything and meet others. The main dishes were: chicken with peppers, carbonara, amatriciana, which are the most famous of Rome's tradition, always served with excellent wine.
